▶Summarize the Conversationとは？
第15回の特集では、Listen and Respondの問題で聞いた会話文をまとめるSummarize the Conversationという問題形式の解法を解説します。これは、
Interactive Listeningと呼ばれる会話力と読み書きする力を評価する２つの問題形式の中で２番目に出題される問題です。

１）タイマー開始
問題が表示されると同時にカウントが始まります。
２）内容
「Listen and Respond」で聞いた会話の概要を英語でまとめます。
３）出題数と制限時間
▶出題数：１問
▶制限時間：７５秒（２０秒以上書かないと解答を提出できません）
４）目標文字数
４０ words以上の英文を書くことを目指しましょう。
５）Interactive Listeningの構成
- Listen and Respond ５問～６問 / ４分
- Summarize the Conversation １問 / ７５秒

▶スコアアップのための４つのコツ
１）箇条書きで書かない
２）時制は過去形を使う
３）5Wに答える形で上から書き進める
✔ Who：誰と誰が話している？
✔ What：話の内容は？
✔ Where：会話が行われている場所は？（推測でもOK）
✔ Why：会話が行われた理由は？（推測でもOK）
✔ When：会話が行われている時間や時期は？（推測でもOK）
４）見直しの時間を確保
✔ 単数形・複数形、三単現による動詞の変化、スペルミスを修正しましょう。

次の「Listen and Respond」のシナリオと音声会話のスクリプトを読み、５Wそれぞれについて英語で書いてみましょう。まずは時間を気にせず、正確な英語を書くことを心がけてください。

Two students are discussing their plans for the upcoming summer vacation. One student is visiting his uncle in Los Angeles. The other student is going to study English hard to prepare to go to a university in the States,

A: So, what are your plans for the upcoming summer vacation?
rB: Well, I’m planning to study English intensively.
A: Oh, are you preparing for something specific?
B: Yes, I’m aiming to go to university in the States, so I need to improve my English skills.
A: That sounds like a solid plan. You’ll have a great time there. Speaking of which, I’ll be visiting my uncle in
Los Angeles during the summer break.
B: Los Angeles? That sounds exciting! What will you be doing there?
A: Probably exploring the city, checking out some famous landmarks, and spending time with my family.
B: That’s awesome! Hey, why don’t we meet up one day before you leave? It would be great to catch up
before you head off.
A: Absolutely! We should definitely plan something. And when you’re ready to go to the States, you should visit
my uncle too. He’d be happy to show you around.
B: That sounds like a fantastic idea! Thanks for the invitation. I’ll definitely take you up on that offer.
▷５W、それぞれについて英語でまとめてみましょう。
「Listen and Respond」の問題に取り組んでいる際、ある程度会話の内容が分かっているにもかかわらず、次の「Summarize the Conversation」で英語がすぐに出てこないことがあります。そのような場合は、まず「Who」と「What」の部分短時間で書けるように練習しましょう。
